Tips and Tricks - Word

Multi Select Text

In older versions of Word, you could select only contiguous text:  by character, word or paragraph.

In Word 2002 and 2003, you can use the Ctrl + Mouse to select items that are scattered throughout your document.

This is a helpful tool when you want to format certain words and paragraphs the same way.

  • Select the character, word, or paragraph that you want.

  • Hold the Ctrl key down.
  • Left mouse click the next character, word, or paragraph.
  • When you are done, you should see several highlighted items.
  • Format the items to fit your needs.
